This is a very versatile little saw that is ideal for fine curved cutting. The bench mounting is a useful addition but the fact that you can use it freehand is also a real benefit. Typical of dremel it appears to be well built.

Good bits: the saw is de-mountable from its table, thus it can be used handheld if needed, i.E. Cutting shapes in the end of longer work, ( it's much easer to rotate the saw than a long plank) the work top-support is easy to apply and holds well. there is a speed control which helps for intricate work. the blade is very easy to change having just one leaver to set the tension of the blade jaws. with the saw mounted in it's table and clamped on the edge of a bench, the intricate work is easy and there are guide tracks in which accesories can be used. not-so-good bits: the motor is quite loud. (nice to turn it off after longer cuts!) the on/off switch is a bit tight, not so easy to click it on and off. the blade tension seems to be a bit to low, so it's not so easy to follow a line as i would like, i found the cut wonders about that would be completly preventable if the blade tension could be improved. overall, i can recomend this product, it is a very good tool for the lighter jobs, eg. For modelmaking - top class and would give it 5 stars.

A nice time saving piece of kit. Can be attached to your work bench in seconds and makes the tedious job of cutting out wing ribs a doddle. Slices through ply like a knife through butter. Handled half inch perspex fairly well too, just needed a little more time and patience. It would be nice if the guide fence could be adjusted from side to side and not just for angle. A good modellers tool, packs away nicely in its own carry case for storage. If you're looking for something more substantial, pay more money and get something bigger.

This is a great tool for the money. i have used it to make several items now. i was not expecting much knowing that it is a craft and hobby tool but to my surprise it has cut as well as my old craftsman 16" scroll saw and better than a ryobi model i have used in the past. it is small and does limit the size of material you can cut, but they do make a side cutting blade specifically for long pieces of material. for what type of tool it is, i highly recommend it but if you want to do serious scroll saw work you will want to spend the money on something more professional. as stated earlier, it doesn't tilt and depending on the hard wood you are using, you will be limited to how thick you can cut. i have yet to have a problem because it has handled every type of wood (up to 3/4 inch) i tried with no lack of power. i am impressed so far. sdudley
